A video done by a girl in my environmental studies classes. I thought it was pretty good, so I thought I’d share it with everyone.
Robert Bullard is the greatest, and I’m presenting my findings from my GIS analysis that tested his hypothesis in a few minutes.
This is an amazing video of an amazing young poet doing a piece about environmental racism. Although even that term is used sarcastically in the poem as something white outsiders label the toxins and pollution that are normal in communities of color. I don’t have a transcript of the poem to post here, sorry, I’ll try to find one.
At school we’re reading Bronx Masquerade, a young adult novel about a high school writing class that starts open mike sessions, so we’re gonna watch this video in class next week. We’re an environmental studies school, and some of my kids took a class on environmental justice that focused on a few POC neighborhoods here, so I’m really excited about watching videos like this at school!
Last night, we got a friendly message from nhaler about the contradictions in the messages we’re hearing on Libya: ”What’re your thoughts on the plain contradictions that are being repeated by the mass media regarding Obama’s claims that USA ‘led the charge’ against Gaddafi?” Good question….
